Infinitive Phrase

An infinitive phrase is constructed with the verb in infinitive form (example: to help) and consists of the particle to and the base form of a verb and may take objects and other complements and modifiers to form a verb phrase called an infinitive phrase. This phrase can function as a noun, an adjective, or an adverb.


Examples of Infinitive Phrases

(to) work
(to) eat two cakes
(to) run to the shop to get bread
